# Reading your website and sources

> How Entryway reads your website, which pages it reads, and how to add pages, files and pasted text to your Vault.

Instead of typing everything yourself, you can give Entryway your website address. It reads the most relevant public pages, saves what it read to your Vault and drafts a short business brief with a citation for every field, so you can check where each statement came from.

## Reading your website

Paste your website address during guided setup, on the campaign **Confirm your business** screen, or in the Vault.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Entryway reads your site">
    It checks your site's `robots.txt` and sitemap, then reads the pages most relevant to your
    business first, such as your home, about, services or product, and pricing pages. You can watch
    each page as it is read or skipped.
  </Step>

  <Step title="It drafts your brief">
    Choose **Draft my brief** (1 AI drafting credit). The brief can fill in **What you do**, **What
    you help customers achieve**, **Who you reach (job titles)**, **Industries**, **Tone** and
    **Proof points**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="You check and save">
    Each field shows where it came from, for example "from /pricing". Open a citation to see the
    exact excerpt or the page itself. A field marked **Not found word-for-word in what we read**
    needs your attention. Nothing saves without you.
  </Step>
</Steps>

### How much of your site is read

| | Paid plans | Preview |
| - | - | - |
| Pages saved per read | Up to 100 relevant pages | Up to 12 pages |
| Blog, news and resources pages | Up to 15 of the most relevant | Up to 3 |
| Text kept per page | Up to 15,000 characters | Up to 6,000 characters |

Full-site reads on a paid plan are limited to 3 a day per workspace. A further read that day covers up to 12 pages.

### Pages that are skipped

Entryway reads only public pages on your site and tells you why it skipped anything. Common reasons:

* Your `robots.txt` asks automated readers to skip the page
* Sign-in, cart or account pages
* Addresses with tracking or search parameters
* The same text as a page already read
* Less relevant to your business, or over the page limit for this read
* Redirects to another address, or an address that cannot be read safely

<Note>
  If website reading is not available in your workspace, or you would rather not use it, describe
  your business in the form yourself. Everything else in the Vault works the same way.
</Note>

## Adding more sources

You can add more material at any time and then choose **Update the brief with what you added** (1 AI drafting credit).

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Specific pages">
    Paste one or more full page addresses, one per line. Useful for a case study or a page the
    automatic read skipped.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Files">
    Upload a PDF up to 40 MB, or a PNG, JPEG or WebP image up to 10 MB.

    * For a PDF, Entryway reads the selectable text on the **first 40 pages**.
    * A scanned PDF has no selectable text, and a password-protected PDF cannot be opened. Both
      are saved but not used for the brief.
    * Images are kept for reference and are not read for the brief.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Pasted text">
    Paste notes, an interview transcript or any text you want Entryway to use. It is saved to
    your Vault as a source, and brief fields that use it cite it by its title.
  </Accordion>

## Removing what was read

Everything Entryway reads is saved to your Vault, where you can review it and remove it. See also [Data export and deletion](/workspace/data-export-and-deletion).
