# Writing styles

> Pick the writing style a draft uses: your own, a style built from posts you choose, or an Entryway house style. Review its guidelines and see why each draft works.

Every AI draft is written in a **writing style**. By default it is **your writing style**: your [Vault voice](/vault/voice-and-proof) plus the rules Entryway learned from your edits. You can also build styles from posts and choose one from the **Writing style** menu in the agent composer, Content Studio (drafts, hooks and edits), comments, sets and sequence messages.

## Build a style

Open **Insights → Writing styles** and choose **New style**. Owners, admins and operators can create styles; everyone in the workspace can see and use them.

| Build from | What you add |
| - | - |
| **Your posts** | Paste or upload your posts, or use the posts Discover read for your own account |
| **A creator** | Their public name and a few of their posts: pasted, uploaded, from your swipe file or read by Discover |
| **Other samples** | Any writing you want to learn from, such as a company newsletter |

Separate pasted posts with a line of three dashes (`---`). Upload `.txt` or `.md` files. Discover posts are offered only when reading through your connected LinkedIn account is switched on; otherwise paste them.

## Analyse it

Add at least 3 posts, then choose **Analyse posts**. The analysis is one AI request (1 AI credit) and uses your workspace's configured AI model. It writes guidelines for opening style, sentence and paragraph length, line breaks, formatting, words to use and avoid, tone, point of view, typical structures, calls to action and topics. Each guideline shows how many posts it was seen in and, where useful, a short quote. Entryway also measures average length, lines, emoji, hashtags and lists itself.

What is kept: the guidelines, the measurements and quotes of up to 150 characters. The text of someone else's posts is deleted once the analysis is saved, or after 7 days if it is never analysed. Your own posts are kept only if you tick **Keep my samples**.

## Edit the guidelines

Edit any guideline, add your own, **pin** the ones that matter most or switch one **off**. Saving makes a new version; **Version history** lets you restore an earlier one. Guidelines describe writing only. They can't change approval, scheduling or sending, link anywhere or mention people.

## Write in a style

Open the **Writing style** menu in a composer, search, and pick a style. **Your writing style** is listed first.

* With another style selected, the rules learned from your edits are paused, and the composer says so.
* Drafts can't reuse another person's wording. A draft that repeats eight or more words from a stored quote, a Discover post or your swipe file is not saved.
* Facts still need approved evidence, and every draft still goes through review.

**Entryway styles** (Direct operator, Story-led founder, Data-first analyst, Warm community builder, Contrarian teacher) are house styles written by Entryway and are not based on any real person.

## Why this works

Each AI draft can show a collapsed **Why this works** note: a short explanation of how the draft is structured, the Library structure it followed and the guidelines it used. It describes the writing, not a forecast of results.

## Using someone else's posts

A style built from a creator's posts is for your workspace's private use and is labelled with their public name only inside your workspace. Use it to learn structure and rhythm, not to copy or pass off their work as theirs.
