# Briefs and content sets

> Turn one idea into a reviewed brief, then make a coordinated set (post, carousel, images, first comment, video) that is approved together.

A **brief** holds what a piece of content is about: the angle, the audience, the key points, the claims and the call to action. A **set** is everything made from one brief: a post and, if you want them, a carousel, a headline image, an infographic, a first comment and a video. Every member of a set stays linked to the brief it came from, and the whole set is approved at once.

Open **Content**, choose **Post** mode and select **Briefs & sets**. Owners, admins and operators can create and edit briefs and sets.

## Start a brief

Choose **New brief** and pick where it starts:

| Start from | What you provide |
| - | - |
| **Idea** | A few lines in your own words. A half-formed thought is fine |
| **Existing post** | One of your saved posts, or the text of a post you wrote |
| **URL** | A page address. Its text is read and saved as a Vault source |
| **PDF** | A PDF with selectable text. Its text becomes a Vault source. Scanned or password-protected PDFs cannot be read |
| **Voice note** | Your notes typed or pasted. Voice transcription is not available yet |
| **Map gap** | A topic from your [Authority Map](/work/insights) that you have not covered yet |

If AI drafting is available, tick **Let AI propose the angle, key points and claims (1 AI request)**. Otherwise you write the brief yourself. A page or PDF that cannot be read stops with an explanation; no brief is made up.

## Review the brief

Every field stays editable: angle, audience, up to five key points, claims and the call to action. Each claim is marked as a **fact**, an **opinion** or a **story**.

* A fact needs evidence: attach a Vault source or an approved Vault claim. Until it has one, it shows **Evidence needed**.
* If a source changes after you attached it, the claim shows **Source changed**.
* **Mark ready** is available only when every fact has evidence (or you change it to an opinion).

Saving creates a new revision of the brief.

## Make the set

From a ready brief, choose **Make the set** and tick the members you want: **Post**, **Carousel**, **Headline image**, **Infographic**, **First comment** and **Video**. Choose the LinkedIn account now or later.

* Before anything runs you see how many AI requests the set uses (one per post or visual; the first comment is written with the post). Anything over one request asks you to confirm. Requests count against your hourly and the workspace's daily AI limits.
* A **Video** is attached from [Image and video](/content/image-and-video); it is not generated here.
* Each member shows its state: **Not made yet**, **Ready**, **Made from an older brief**, or **Needs refresh** with the claim that changed. Editing a claim in the brief flags only the members that used it. **Refresh** remakes one member and changes nothing else; **Keep as is** keeps it; **Remove** takes it out of the set before approval.

## Improve the post

Choose **Edit post, hooks and wording** to open the post in the editor. The post tools work on the saved version.

* **Hook options** writes three to five alternative openings in one AI request, each labelled with its pattern (**Question**, **Contrarian**, **Number**, **Story** or **Outcome**). **Use this opening** replaces only the first lines; the rest stays exactly as saved. **Keep my opening** discards them.
* **Edit a selection:** select text and choose **Rewrite**, **Shorter**, **Longer**, **Plainer**, **Punchier**, **More like me**, or type your own instruction (for example "make it about hiring"). The result appears as a proposal showing what was removed and added. **Accept edit** saves it as a new version; **Reject** leaves your text unchanged. Text outside the selection never changes.
* Any new figure the AI introduces is marked **Evidence needed**, and the [style rules](/work/insights#learned-style-rules) applied to the last proposal are listed.
* The LinkedIn preview shows the post on mobile and desktop with the approximate "…see more" fold. Posts are limited to 3,000 characters.

## Approve and schedule the set

1. Choose the account, then **Request approval**. An owner, admin or reviewer chooses **Approve the set**, or enters what to change and chooses **Request changes**.
2. The approval covers the exact version of every member, including the rendered pages, images, video and first comment. Any later change to a member or to the brief withdraws the approval and says why.
3. Once approved, choose when the post goes out. Moving the time re-checks the approval and the account first.

## First comment

A first comment (up to 1,250 characters) is posted by the same account after LinkedIn confirms the post went out. It is created when the set is scheduled, waits for the post's confirmed receipt, and is never attempted while the post's outcome is uncertain.

<Warning>
  Posting comments from Entryway is not switched on yet. Until it is, the approved first comment
  stops before posting and shows **Post it yourself**: choose **Copy approved comment** and post it
  on LinkedIn under your post.
</Warning>

<Info>
  Publishing posts from Entryway needs a paid plan, a connected account and publishing switched on
  for your workspace. Until then you can make, review, approve and schedule sets.
